When the number of international paint companies entering the Chinese market increased,

Nippon decided to strengthen their market position to become leaders in colour. As a step in

this process, NCS Colour supported Nippon and their colour expert website icolor.com.cn with

colour knowledge. Interior design courses were developed and held at universities throughout

China as part of their design programmes and also directly by Nippon themselves. As a

complement NCS Colour developed Nippon's popular All Match Colour colour combination

card for educational purposes. Along with this, over 500 interior designers in nine Chinese

cities were educated, which helped Nippon to put themselves in the context of professional

users.

In order to succeed in becoming Asia's most knowledgeable colour expert, a licence-based

Train the Trainer programme was implemented. This gave Nippon the freedom to educate

their employees in holding interior colour design courses for creative professionals. By

doing so, Nippon estimates to educate over 7000 designers by the end of 2015, turning

themselves into a valuable source of knowledge for professional users within the design

community in China.
